Oh the bounty of autumn. Autumn is my favorite season. There's nothing quite so refreshing as that first morning when you can feel in your blood that summer is over. It is also the time of pleanty; when the harvest is at its peak. And just what is the harvest of modern man? What is the bounty that we seek? Mother earth knows little of the desires of men (and women). Whilst economies boom and bust, Gaia (the embodiment of mother nature or the biosphere) sloughs off her own bounty and returns it back to the earth. This replenishes her for another year of growth in the spring to come. What kind of tree have we here? One that mocks the toils and desperations of modern society. One that unselfishly and carelessly casts its own fortunes to the earth and wind. Will man without a thought come and gather up this bounty? Will he consider what the absense of this valuable mulch will mean to the local ecosystem?

This image is a detail of a much larger scene. Please visit my site and go to my Bryce Gallery to see the clickable full image that this detail is derived from. I must say I am quite pleased with the way this project has turned out. I hope you enjoy it as well. I called upon many different programs and skills to finish this scene off. It has taxed my resources and will, but with great reward. In all I used: Rhinoceros, Ray Dream Studio, sPatch, UV Mapper, Photoshop, and of course Bryce. As always, my scanner and Wacom tablet were invaluable.
